Sovereign
The Land used to be one great empire. Multiple families worked together to make something beautiful. But a darkness spread from the capital, plunging the world into perpetual twilight and the Lord Sovereign fell silent. Families made voyages into the miasma, which was thickest near the old capital, never to be seen again.
Centuries have passed since then. The lands around the capital remain desolate tombs filled with unknown horrors. Hope of the empire's glorious return has long since vanished beneath two multi-family wars and endless skirmishes. Tensions are high, and the people worry that a third war lies just around the corner.
Still there are those who believe that the Lord Sovereign will one day return to bring peace and security to the land, and reunite the families once again.
Slowly the memories of those days faded. The world went to war twice in that time and even in the aftermath, tensions never went away. Then the damn broke when an Isici mage, Alex Ferminder, discovered something deep underground and unleashed demons into the world.
