Nicolas grew up under the tutelage of his father, a Cleanser of Prathia, who was killed during a freak avalanche in the Brimraine Mountains that cost the lives of 22 Cleansers. Nicolas looked up to his father more than anything and had also been in training to be a Cleanser. His father's death fueled the fire and saw him join the forces of Prathia early, becoming a Cleanser a full year ahead of his fellow trainees.

The influence of The Hands of God twisted Nicolas, and while he regularly maintains his humanlike appearance, he is anything but. A grotesque creature living within the Cleanser armour like a shell.
